Assault on North Wabash AvenueA 40-year-old man was hospitalized with chest injuries after another man struck him with an axe, Battle Creek police said.
The altercation unfolded around 5 p.m. Saturday, April 25, on North Wabash Avenue. Officers were called for a reported stabbing.
Suspect in CustodyUpon arrival, police learned the man was hit with an axe by a known individual, identified as a 44-year-old acquaintance.
The victim suffered injuries to his chest and elbow and was transported to a nearby hospital where he provided a statement to officers.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle but was located a short distance away and taken into custody.
