Attempted Abduction Investigation in Pennfield Township

A reported attempted abduction in Pennfield Township has prompted an active search for an unidentified man and a renewed warning for residents to stay alert while walking outdoors.

The incident was reported at about 10:50 a.m. on October 20th, 2026, near Morgan Road and Norave Drive.

Investigators said a 54-year-old woman was walking her dog when a man approached from behind, grabbed her and lifted her off the ground.

The woman’s dog intervened and attacked the man, allowing her to get free.

The suspect then ran into a nearby wooded area.

Authorities described the man as wearing a black ski mask, a fluorescent yellow jacket and black gloves.

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the area with help from the Calhoun Aerial Support Team, which used a drone, but the suspect was not located.

The Sheriff’s Office said surrounding law-enforcement agencies were notified and investigators planned to contact nearby residents about possible surveillance footage.

Anyone who saw a suspicious person or vehicle in the Morgan Road area should preserve doorbell, home-security or dashboard-camera recordings from Tuesday morning.

Residents with immediate safety concerns should call 911, while information that does not involve an active emergency can be reported through Calhoun County’s non-emergency dispatch service.

Anonymous information may also be submitted through Silent Observer of Calhoun County.

With Halloween activities approaching, deputies are encouraging families to travel in groups, remain in familiar and well-lit places, and make sure children stay with a trusted adult or designated group.

Those precautions are especially relevant during evening walks, when costumes, traffic and larger crowds can make it harder to notice unusual behavior.

The allegation remains under investigation, and the description released by deputies should not be treated as identification of any particular person.
