County National Bank Sets Food Bank Volunteer Record

Nearly 200 County National Bank employees joined South Michigan Food Bank projects on October 12th, 2026, creating what the Battle Creek-based nonprofit described as its largest single volunteer day.

The coordinated effort involved five projects across Adrian, Battle Creek, Hillsdale, Jackson and Jasper.

Volunteers packed 1,100 Fresh Food Distribution boxes and supported two food distributions, two mobile markets and a warehouse project.

The distributions served 237 households in Hillsdale and 244 households in Jackson, while mobile markets reached 147 households in Adrian and 87 households in Jasper.

South Michigan Food Bank is headquartered at 5451 Wayne Road in Battle Creek and works with more than 300 partner agencies across eight southern Michigan counties.

The organization says it distributes more than 11 million pounds of food each year through its regional network.

Volunteer labor is central to that work, accounting for about 75% of the packed food used in the food bank’s programs.

According to the food bank’s volunteer information, community members contributed 13,546 hours and packed more than 2.7 million pounds of food during 2025.

County National Bank said the service day was part of its Enrichment in Action program, which organizes employee involvement across the communities the bank serves.
