Free Breast Health Event Comes to Battle Creek
October 14 program offers exams, education and screening guidance

A free breast health event in Battle Creek will offer exams, education and help navigating screening options for adults who face insurance or access barriers.
Free Breast Health Education is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Bronson Cancer Center - Battle Creek, 300 North Avenue.
The program is designed for people age 40 and older who are uninsured, underinsured, at elevated risk for breast cancer or otherwise have limited access to routine screening.
There is no charge and no insurance is required, but advance registration is necessary because space is limited.
Participants can receive a breast exam, learn how to perform a self-exam and get guidance on scheduling a mammogram.
Staff from Michigan's Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program will also be available to discuss free or low-cost screening support for eligible residents.
After someone registers, a Bronson team member will contact them to arrange an appointment time during the event window.
Residents may register online through the event page or call Bronson HealthAnswers at 269-341-7723 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event fills a practical gap because cost, transportation, time and uncertainty about where to begin can all delay preventive care.
Offering the exam, education and next-step navigation in one visit can make screening feel more reachable.
An exam at the event is not a replacement for every recommended screening, but it can help participants understand their personal risk and connect with appropriate follow-up services.
Anyone with a new lump, nipple discharge, skin changes or another breast concern should contact a health care professional promptly rather than waiting for a community event.
Bronson also maintains a broader list of community outreach programs for people looking for other classes, screenings or health education.
Who is the event intended to help?
It is intended for adults age 40 and older who are uninsured or underinsured, have higher breast-cancer risk or face limited access to care.
What services are available?
Registered participants can receive a breast exam, self-exam education, mammogram scheduling guidance and information about low-cost screening assistance.
How can someone reserve a place?
Use Bronson's official event registration page or call HealthAnswers at 269-341-7723 before the limited appointments are filled. |
