KCC Music Program Marks 70 Years With “70 Years in Harmony” Season
A year of concerts honors the college’s musical legacy and brings community performances through spring

Kellogg Community College is turning a milestone year into a full season of music for Battle Creek and surrounding communities.
The college’s 2026–27 theme, “70 Years in Harmony: Honoring Our Legacy, Expanding Our Future,” recognizes the music program’s roots at the college’s founding in 1956.
The season also brings several anniversaries together: the KCC choirs reach 70 years, the Concert Band marks 65 years and the Jazz Band celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Branch County Community Chorus is marking 25 years.
That mix of college tradition and community participation gives the season a wider reach than a single anniversary concert.
The fall program begins Oct. 12 with “Let America Sing,” a community sing-along presented with the African American Collaborative as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary year. The Concert Band follows with “Origins and Foundation” on Oct. 27, while the Jazz Band’s “Anthems in Autumn” is scheduled for Nov. 8.
December adds three seasonal performances, including the Concert Band’s “Light in the Dark,” the Jazz Band’s “Ugly Sweater Swing” and the Choral Union’s annual “Sounds of the Season.” Additional concerts are planned for February and March, including a 25th anniversary celebration for the Branch County Community Chorus.
For local audiences, it’s a chance to hear the program’s history while seeing what its student and community musicians are preparing next.
Performance dates and details may change, so readers should check the college’s official season announcement before making plans.
