Restaurant Review: Moonraker, A Relaxed Fourth of July Weekend Gem |
"Where Everybody Knows Your Koozie" |
As part of my ongoing mission to seek out hidden gems and local favorites around Battle Creek, I recently visited Moonraker (located at Exit 100 off I-94, 14490 Beadle Lake Road).
And let me tell you, this one is definitely worth a visit.
We walked in on a relaxed holiday weekend evening and immediately noticed the welcoming vibe.
A long bar stretches the length of the restaurant, and it was lined with regulars clearly enjoying each other’s company and the festive Fourth of July atmosphere.
One quirky and fun feature that stood out? Racks of Koozies hanging behind the bar! We learned from our friendly server, McKenzie (or Kenzie), that this is part of a special club for the regulars who prefer their beer in a can.
They leave their Koozies there for future visits. It’s little touches like this that give Moonraker its charm and personality.
We seated ourselves and were quickly greeted by a staff member who kindly took our drink order even before it was clear who would be our server.
Kenzie soon took over and provided fantastic service from start to finish, friendly, efficient, and attentive. She made us feel right at home and cleared our plates promptly after we were finished, which is always appreciated.
Now, let’s talk food. I ordered the Reuben with coleslaw, and it did not disappoint.
The marble rye was perfectly toasted, the corned beef was generously stacked, and the balance of dressing and sauerkraut was spot on.
My wife had the French Dip with coleslaw, and she absolutely loved the bun.
The sandwich was hearty enough that she took half of it home for lunch the next day, always a bonus!
Prices were very reasonable, portions were satisfying, and the whole experience left us smiling.
Whether you're just passing through or a Battle Creek local, Moonraker is a great spot for a laid-back evening with good food and friendly faces.
We’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend you check it out for your own taste of Battle Creek!
