Battle Creek Battle of the Bands Launches in 2026

New music competition brings live performances to local venues with finals at Kellogg Arena

Local music fans have something to look forward to this year. A new Battle of the Bands competition is launching in Battle Creek, bringing together talented musicians from across the area for a series of live shows leading up to a grand finale at Kellogg Arena.

The competition is being organized by Penetrator Events and 1T Productions, two groups with experience putting on shows and events in the region. They have lined up three qualifying rounds at different venues around town, giving bands a chance to showcase their sound and compete for a spot in the finals.

The Road to the Finals

The competition kicks off with the first semifinal on May 15 at New Holland Brewing. That night, you can catch performances by Bombshell, Barefoot Blonde, and Allie Garland with Awesome Sauce. The second semifinal happens July 9 at Squirrel Hollow Golf Course, featuring Powell Experience, Megan Rae Band, and Fat Animals. The third and final qualifying round is set for September 11 at Handmap Brewing, with Lucid Vibe, SXX, and His Boy Elroy taking the stage.

Each of these semifinal events is free to attend, making it easy for friends, family, and music lovers to come out and support the local scene.

The Big Finale

Winners from each semifinal will advance to the championship round on November 14 at Kellogg Arena. This is where the competition gets serious, with the top bands battling it out for the title.

Unlike the free semifinals, the finale will be a ticketed event. Tickets go on sale May 15, the same day as the first semifinal. If you are planning to attend, it is worth grabbing tickets early since Kellogg Arena events can sell out.

Why This Matters for Battle Creek

Events like this do more than entertain. They give local musicians a platform to reach new audiences, connect with other artists, and build momentum for their careers. For venues like New Holland Brewing and Handmap Brewing, these shows bring in crowds and introduce people to what they have to offer.

Plus, it is just good for the community. Live music brings people together, supports local businesses, and puts Battle Creek on the map as a place where arts and culture matter.

If you have not been to a live show in a while, this competition is a great excuse to get out and experience what our local music scene has to offer. Even if you do not know any of the bands yet, you might just discover your new favorite artist.
