Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Investigates Sheridan Township Incident |
In the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025, a shooting in Sheridan Township, just east of Battle Creek, left two individuals injured.
At approximately 12:44 a.m., the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of multiple gunshots near C Drive North and 29 Mile Road.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, both from Battle Creek, suffering from gunshot wounds at separate nearby locations.
First responders provided immediate medical assistance, and both victims were transported to Henry Ford Health for treatment.
While the extent of their injuries remains unknown, authorities have indicated that one victim sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau, in collaboration with the Violent Crime Task Force, has launched an investigation into the incident.
Assistance at the scene was provided by multiple agencies, including the Albion Department of Public Safety, Sheridan Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Marshall Police Department, Albion Community Ambulance, Tribal Police, and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.

This incident adds to a series of violent events in the Battle Creek area in recent months.
In July 2025, a 31-year-old man was fatally shot on South 22nd Street, leading to the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect on an open murder charge.
Additionally, in April 2025, a large fight involving approximately 60 individuals on West Michigan Avenue resulted in shots being fired, culminating in the arrest of a 35-year-old man on multiple weapons charges.
The community remains on high alert as local law enforcement continues to address and investigate these violent incidents. |
