Battle Creek Police turned community concerns into action last week when they arrested five individuals and seized narcotics during a search on Magner Street.
The operation began around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, when officers from the Community Oriented Policing Services Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the first block of Magner Street. The warrant came after neighbors reported suspicious activity at the property, with people frequently coming and going.
When officers entered the home, they found nine people inside. Five were arrested on outstanding warrants, and police recovered a small amount of narcotics. The property was later condemned by Code Compliance.
The COPS Division received assistance from the Emergency Response Team, Special Investigations Unit, Fusion Center, and the Crime Lab. This coordinated effort shows how different parts of the police department work together to address community concerns.
Community Partnership Makes the Difference
Battle Creek Police are thanking neighbors for their watchfulness. Tips from concerned citizens provided the information needed to obtain the search warrant and take action.
This case is a perfect example of what happens when the community and police work together. When residents speak up about problems in their neighborhoods, real change can happen.
If you see suspicious activity in your area, you can report it to Silent Observer at 269-964-3888. The police department also offers online reporting tools through the city website.
