NMU Truck Driving School Suspended Amid Investigation
Northern Michigan University suspends its truck driving school program amid an investigation, affecting CDL training in the Upper Peninsula.

Northern Michigan University has suspended its truck driving school program amid an ongoing investigation, leaving students in the Upper Peninsula without a key pathway to commercial driver training.
Impact on Students and Workforce
The suspension affects NMU's CDL training program based in Marquette, which has provided commercial driver license instruction for years. University officials confirmed the program is on hold while they review unspecified concerns.
The timing of the suspension creates challenges for students who were enrolled or planning to enroll in the program. Commercial driver training typically takes several weeks to complete, and the suspension may delay career plans for those seeking to enter the trucking industry.
Alternative Training Options
Students affected by the NMU suspension have several alternatives for obtaining their commercial driver license:
• Other Michigan community colleges offer CDL training programs • Private truck driving schools operate throughout the state • Company-sponsored training programs allow students to train while working • Online resources can help students prepare for the written CDL exam
About the Investigation
Northern Michigan University has not released specific details about the nature of the investigation or what prompted the suspension. University officials stated they are taking the matter seriously and working to address any concerns.

So frustrating. The UP already doesn't have enough training options, now folks have to drive even farther just to get a CDL.
Troy F.I hear you. For a lot of people up here, traveling to another town just isn’t doable, especially in the winter. Hope they sort this out soon.
