Hidden Gem in Urbandale: A Cozy Evening at Core Bistro |
A Cozy Patio, Great Service, and Food Worth Coming Back For |
This week, my wife and I had the pleasure of discovering Core Bistro, a cozy little spot tucked into Level Park/Urbandale at 311 W. Michigan Ave., Battle Creek.
If you're looking for a casual dining experience with great food and an inviting atmosphere, this one’s worth checking out.
We stopped in around 7 p.m. on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised to find it not too crowded. With the weather still nice, we chose to sit out on their beautiful outdoor patio, complete with fire pits and heaters that will surely keep it comfortable well into the fall months. It felt like the perfect setting for a relaxed night out.
Our server, Sara, took excellent care of us, friendly, attentive, and always making sure we had what we needed.
We started with the cheese sticks appetizer, and let me tell you, these were not your average cheese sticks, massive, golden brown, and deliciously filling. Definitely a highlight!
For dinner, my wife ordered the club sandwich, which came piled high with fresh ingredients, so much so that she brought half home for lunch the next day. I had the shaved steak sandwich on grilled sourdough with mushrooms and cheese, and it was packed with flavor. Every bite hit the spot.
After dinner, we noticed the walk-up ice cream window on the side of the restaurant. We couldn’t resist grabbing a couple of cones and relaxing in the small park-like area with a gazebo behind the building, a perfect way to end the evening.
Highly recommended for both the food and the experience. Whether you're out for dinner, drinks, or just a cone on a summer evening, Core Bistro is a local gem we’ll definitely be returning to. |
