From Fifty to Frigid: Battle Creek’s Late-February Flip
Rain and mild winds dominate the start of the week before a chilly reality check arrives.
The spring-like surge we’ve been enjoying is about to hit a speed bump, Stu. While we’ll start this stretch with temperatures well above average for mid-February, a cold front is waiting in the wings to remind us that winter isn't finished with the Cereal City just yet.
Wednesday and Thursday will be the peak of the "thaw," with daytime highs climbing into the mid-50s. However, this warmth comes with a price, expect steady rain and breezy conditions through Thursday afternoon.
As the rain clears out on Friday, the thermometer begins its slide. We’ll drop from a high of 54°F on Wednesday to a much more seasonal 36°F by Saturday.
The weekend looks dry but crisp.
Saturday and Sunday will offer some sunshine, but you’ll want to dig the heavy coat back out as overnight lows plunge into the 20s.
By the time we reach early next week, we’re back to a classic Michigan winter pattern: cloudy skies, highs in the low 30s, and a chance for light snow showers returning on Monday and Tuesday.
It’s been a nice break, but don't put the shovel away quite yet! |
