Battle Creek Man Arrested After Stabbing Incident in Sherwood Township |
42-year-old suspect apprehended following assault on Wheatfield Drive |
A 42-year-old man from Battle Creek was taken into custody on November 6, 2025, in connection with a stabbing incident in Sherwood Township.
Deputies from the Branch County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) responded to a report of a stabbing around 9:35 p.m. on Wheatfield Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male victim with stab wounds to his hands and arm. The injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening, and the victim later sought treatment at a local hospital.
Through their investigation, authorities identified the 42-year-old Battle Creek resident as the suspect. He was located and apprehended at a residence on Chippewa Drive within Sherwood Township. Two search warrants were executed during the investigation, leading to the collection of evidence pertinent to the assault. The suspect was subsequently lodged in the Branch County Jail, facing both felony and misdemeanor charges.
The BCSO received assistance from the Union City Police Department, LifeCare Ambulance, the Battle Creek Police Department, and Branch County Central Dispatch in resolving the incident.
This arrest follows a similar incident in October, where a 49-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested in connection with a stabbing near Main Street and Pittee Street. In that case, the suspect fled on foot before officers arrived, but was later apprehended. The 31-year-old male victim was transported for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
Sherwood Township has been actively working on community developments, including considering penalty reductions in zoning ordinances. In June 2025, the Sherwood Township Planning Commission recommended reducing penalties for ordinance violations from criminal offenses to municipal civil infractions. This proposal is currently under review by the Branch County Planning Commission.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about local developments and participate in community discussions to enhance the safety and well-being of Sherwood Township. |
