Local talent shines on national stage, chooses Niall Horan as coach |
Battle Creek's own Jack Austin captivated audiences on NBC's 'The Voice' during the blind auditions on Monday, September 22.
Performing a heartfelt rendition of 'This Town', originally by coach Niall Horan, Austin's performance prompted three of the four coaches to turn their chairs in approval.
Coaches Reba McEntire, Michael BublĂŠ, and Niall Horan all vied for the opportunity to mentor the 21-year-old singer.
Ultimately, Austin chose to join Team Horan, a fitting decision given his song choice.
Before making his selection, Austin and Horan shared a memorable duet of 'This Town' on stage, highlighting their musical synergy.
Austin, a student at Western Michigan University, has been making waves in the independent music scene.
His original song 'Get Away' earned him the 'Rock Song of the Year' award at the 2024 Josie Music Awards held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Austin is deeply involved in theater.
He founded the Unity Theatre Company in Battle Creek, a program dedicated to teaching children full-length Broadway productions in just two weeks.
His acting credits include a leading role in the musical 'Boy on Billboard', which debuted to a sold-out audience at 54 Below in New York City.
With his advancement on 'The Voice', Austin continues to represent Battle Creek on a national platform, bringing pride to his hometown.
Fans eagerly await his next performance as he competes for the title of 'The Voice' champion. |
