Battle Creek’s Own Jack Austin Bows Out of ‘The Voice’... But the Hometown Pride Remains Strong

Hometown hero Jack Austin of Battle Creek, MI, made his final appearance on The Voice on NBC Monday (Nov. 10), concluding a memorable journey on the show that has drawn deep local support and some profound disappointment.

Austin, a Lakeview High School alum and current student at Western Michigan University, stepped into the “Knockout Round” as a member of Michael Bublé’s team, after being stolen by Bublé when Austin initially competed on Niall Horan’s team.

Unfortunately, Austin’s performance in the Knockout went un-aired, and his coach selected his competitor “Trinity” to advance.

For Battle Creek, it was a mix of pride and heartbreak.

From watch-parties downtown to social-media shout-outs, the community rallied behind Austin’s national-stage rise.

Yet when his final performance never appeared on screen, some of the hometown disappointment spilled over.

As Austin acknowledged in a Facebook post, he is “filled with gratitude” and “extremely disheartened my Knockout performance was not aired at all…”

Still, this isn’t just a story about a show exit, it’s about a young artist whose resume already features impressive achievements:

  • Austin was named Pop Vocalist of the Year at the 2025 Josie Music Awards at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Battle Creek Enquirer+Jack Austin+3

  • He was a multi-time nominee at the Josie Awards (six-time nominee) while still building his independent artist profile. Canvas Rebel

In his statement, Austin said:

“Tonight, my journey on The Voice has come to an end. I’m feeling all different types of emotions. But most of all, I am filled with gratitude... I’m extremely disheartened my Knockout performance was not aired … But at the end of the day, I can confidently say that I finished my journey on the show extremely proud of all of the performances I gave.”

While the screen time didn’t go as hoped, the out-pouring of support in Battle Creek certainly did.

From pundits noting “Bronco Nation” rallying behind him, to local news stories highlighting his hometown roots and acclaim,Jack Austin has already left a mark. Western Michigan University

As the city reflects on the ride, the message is clear: Austin’s time on the national stage may be over for now, but the momentum he built is just beginning.
