Yassir Lester and Henrik Blix to Deliver Stand-Up Comedy on November 22 |
The Franke Center for the Arts is set to host an evening of laughter on November 22, featuring acclaimed comedians Yassir Lester and Henrik Blix.
Yassir Lester, known for his roles in Showtime's "Black Monday" and Fox's "Making History," brings a wealth of experience as a comedian, writer, actor, and director. His writing credits include NBC's "Kenan," HBO's "Girls," and Netflix's "Black AF." Currently, he's involved in Marvel Studios' upcoming feature "Armor Wars" and stars in the "Sausage Party" series on Amazon.
Henrik Blix has showcased his comedic talents nationwide, contributing to "The Problem with Jon Stewart" on Apple TV+ and performing with The Second City in Chicago. His work also includes contributions to The Onion, and he continues to perform in New York City and online.
Recognizing the community's appetite for stand-up comedy, Jacob Gates, The Franke Center's executive director, expressed enthusiasm for the event. "One thing we always hear from people is that they’d love to see more stand-up comedy," Gates noted. "So we’re super excited to offer this show this year, as well as The Second City on March 6. It’s going to be a great year for comedy at The Franke!"
The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. on The Franke's mainstage. Tickets are available through the box office at 269-781-0001.
In addition to this comedy event, Marshall has recently welcomed new businesses, enhancing the local entertainment scene. Notably, Viking Warriors, an axe-throwing venue, celebrated its grand opening on October 11 at 111 E Michigan Ave., offering live music and refreshments to the community.
Furthermore, the city has been proactive in supporting local businesses. In April, Marshall Township proposed the establishment of a social district along Macomb Street, aiming to boost local commerce and community engagement by allowing patrons to enjoy beverages within designated areas.
These developments reflect Marshall's commitment to fostering a vibrant community atmosphere, making events like the upcoming comedy night at The Franke Center even more anticipated. |
