Bronson Battle Creek Hospital to Conduct Emergency Preparedness Exercise |
Simulated Hazmat and Mass Casualty Event Scheduled for September 12 |
Bronson Battle Creek Hospital is set to conduct a comprehensive emergency preparedness exercise on Friday, September 12, 2025.
The drill, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will simulate a hazardous materials (hazmat) and mass casualty incident.
This initiative aims to evaluate and enhance multi-agency coordination, emergency response times, and hospital readiness in high-stress scenarios.
Participating agencies include:
Battle Creek Fire Department
Battle Creek Police Department
Kellogg Community College
Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority
Region 5 Healthcare Coalition
The exercise will feature scenarios such as mock tear gas deployment and an active shooter situation.
Emergency vehicles will be present at the hospital, with responders engaging in live-action drills involving triage, treatment of victims, rapid transport, and mass decontamination.
Volunteer actors will portray victims and bystanders to add realism and provide lifelike challenges for emergency personnel.
Residents should not be alarmed if they see or hear emergency vehicles in the area during this time, as this is a planned training exercise.
In addition to this exercise, the Battle Creek community has several upcoming events:
On September 13-14, the Battle Creek Fall Festival will take place at Kellogg Market Square, featuring crafts, fine art, and food booths.
On September 27, the Miles for Memories Community Stroll will be held at Festival Market Square and Linear Path, promoting awareness and support for those affected by dementia.
These events highlight the community's commitment to safety, preparedness, and cultural enrichment.
For more information on the emergency exercise or upcoming events, residents are encouraged to contact the respective organizing bodies. |
