No injuries reported as crews contain challenging roof fire at ReConserve of Michigan |
On Sunday morning, a significant fire erupted at ReConserve of Michigan, a recycling facility located on Angell Street near Avenue C in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Fire Department received the alarm at 10:07 a.m. and arrived within four minutes to find flames and smoke emanating from the building's interior and roofline.
All employees were safely accounted for upon the firefighters' arrival.
The fire originated in a material hopper and had spread to the roofline beneath the roof system, complicating access for the crews.
A partial roof collapse further delayed extinguishment efforts.
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 10 hours, rotating personnel and collaborating with ReConserve staff to remove smoldering contents.
As of Monday, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
