Youth Theater's production adds fifth show to meet community enthusiasm |
The Franke Center for the Arts, located at 214 E. Mansion St. in Marshall, has announced an additional performance of "Finding Nemo Jr." due to overwhelming community interest.
The extra show is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on October 18, complementing the existing lineup of performances from October 16 through October 19.
This production, presented by The Franke Center Youth Theater, features a talented cast of 72 students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Under the direction and choreography of Angela Gerten, with Marge Smith as music director, Jen Popovitz as producer, and Allison Ebner as costumer, the musical brings to life the journey of Marlin as he searches for his son, Nemo, across the ocean.
Ebner, who also serves as the Director of Youth Programming, expressed her excitement: "You are in for a treat with this show! It is visually gorgeous, and the cast fully brings their infectious joy and talent to the stage. It is truly a wonderful show."
Performance times are set for 7 p.m. on October 16, 17, and 18, with matinee showings at 2:30 p.m. on October 18 and 19.
Tickets can be purchased through the Franke Center's website or by contacting the box office at 269-781-0001.
The Franke Center for the Arts' programming receives support from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
In addition to the theater's activities, the Marshall community is experiencing significant developments.
Construction of the 1.8-million-square-foot BlueOval Battery Park Michigan facility is progressing, with completion over 20% as of July 2024.
This project is expected to create more than 1,700 jobs and includes environmental protection measures such as a conservation easement along the Kalamazoo River.
Furthermore, the city has launched a crowdfunding campaign to develop a new park featuring a splash pad and six pickleball courts, aiming to transform vacant lots into vibrant recreational spaces.
These initiatives reflect Marshall's commitment to enhancing community life and providing diverse cultural and recreational opportunities for its residents. |
