Kellogg Community College’s choirs are marking 70 years of music-making in Battle Creek during a milestone-filled 2026-27 season.

The Kellogg Singers and KCC Choral Union trace their roots to 1956, the same year the college was founded.

What began with a small student group has grown into a community tradition that brings together students, alumni and local singers for performances in Battle Creek and beyond.

Music Area Coordinator and Vocal Arts Director Dr. Gerald Case-Blanchard said the anniversary season is designed to honor the program’s past while strengthening its future.

The broader KCC Music Program is celebrating several anniversaries this academic year, including 65 years for the Concert Band, 50 years for the Jazz Band and 25 years for the Branch County Community Chorus.

The choirs’ recent work has included the annual “Singing in the Spring” concert at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Battle Creek and a June 2025 international concert tour through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Participants describe the ensembles as both a musical challenge and a source of community, connection and belonging.

KCC’s choir anniversary feature says the season includes more than a dozen formal concerts that are free and open to the public.

The college’s “70 Years in Harmony” season announcement lists performances continuing through Spring 2027.

One upcoming performance is the KCC Choral Union’s “Sounds of the Season” concert at 3 p.m. on December 6th, 2026, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater.

Readers should confirm event details through KCC Performing Arts before traveling because schedules and venue information can change.

The choir anniversary feature first appeared in the September 2026 edition of BruIN magazine and was published by KCC Daily on November 2nd, 2026.

How long have KCC’s choirs been part of the college?
