Two arrested after Calhoun County deputies discover multiple firearms, brass knuckles, and ammunition magazines during early morning stop

Two Pennfield Township residents are facing felony charges after a routine traffic stop uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office arrested a 41-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman early Sunday morning following a call about a man with a gun.
Deputies stopped the vehicle near Oxford Street and Edgemont Street shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday. Inside, they found multiple loaded firearms, brass knuckles, bulletproof vests, and 36 ammunition magazines. Several of the loaded guns had rounds chambered and ready to fire.
The investigation revealed the 41-year-old male suspect may have been involved in an earlier argument with an unidentified Battle Creek man. Witnesses reported seeing him loading a long gun into the vehicle before deputies arrived. Authorities believe he was waiting for the other man's possible arrival.
The male suspect now faces felony weapons charges along with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. The female suspect faces felony charges for resisting and obstructing deputies during the arrest.
This incident remains under active investigation. Anyone with information can contact CCSO Lieutenant Ben Hess at (269) 781-0880 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer at (269) 964-3888.
