Long-Range Forecast Predicts Warm Mid to Late August for Michigan and Great Lakes Region |
Above-average temperatures expected to persist through late August |
Michigan residents should prepare for a continuation of warm to hot conditions as mid to late August approaches.
The Climate Prediction Center's latest outlook indicates a strong likelihood of above-normal temperatures across the Great Lakes region during this period.
Specifically, from August 13 to August 19, there is a 70% to 80% chance of experiencing warmer-than-average temperatures.
In mid-August, the average high temperature in southern Lower Michigan typically ranges between 80°F and 82°F, while northern Lower Michigan sees averages between 76°F and 78°F.
With the anticipated above-normal temperatures, residents can expect highs in the mid to upper 80s, with the possibility of some days reaching into the 90s.
It's important to note that while a cold front may pass through around August 12, bringing brief relief with temperatures in the 70s, the warm conditions are expected to resume shortly thereafter.
Overall, the pattern suggests that true summer weather will persist in Michigan through at least August 19.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions during this extended period of warmth. |
