Argument Escalates to Deadly Gunfire; Suspect Held Without Bond |
A tragic incident unfolded in Battle Creek, Michigan, as a heated argument between two men escalated into a fatal shooting. The confrontation occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025, on South 22nd Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Travis Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Robinson was pronounced dead at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Investigations revealed that Robinson and the suspect, 36-year-old Terron Stephenson, were acquainted. The altercation, reportedly involving a third party, intensified, leading to the fatal shooting. Stephenson was later apprehended at a separate residence and taken into custody. He has been charged with open murder, felony firearm possession, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Court records indicate that bond has been denied.
This incident adds to a series of violent events in Battle Creek. In March 2025, a 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting on West Spaulding Avenue that left one victim critically injured. Additionally, in April 2025, a 35-year-old man was arrested after shots were fired during a large fight on West Michigan Avenue. These events have raised concerns about public safety and the prevalence of gun violence in the community.
Stephenson is currently held at the Calhoun County Jail. He is scheduled for a pre-exam conference on July 23, followed by a preliminary examination on July 30. The community awaits further developments as the legal process unfolds. |
