20-year-old man pronounced dead at the scene after collision near Katie's Plaza in Battle Creek

A 20-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a high-speed crash Friday afternoon in Battle Creek. The Battle Creek Police Department responded to the collision on West Columbia Avenue near South LaVista Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m.
According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling west on Columbia Avenue at a high rate of speed while passing other vehicles. He collided with an eastbound vehicle that was turning left into Katie's Plaza.
The 20-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
