Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Uncovers Multi-Township Auto Theft Ring |
Authorities in Calhoun County have uncovered a significant high-end auto parts theft operation, leading to several pending arrests.
Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) initiated the investigation after recovering four stolen vehicles, all belonging to a single victim.
These discoveries prompted the identification of seven locations and the execution of two search warrants across multiple townships, including Parma, Springport, Sheridan, and Marengo.
The searches revealed various stolen properties, with the total value, including the recovered vehicles, estimated at $200,000.
The investigation began when deputies observed a suspicious vehicle, which was confirmed to be stolen.
Further inquiries led to the discovery of a second stolen vehicle on the same property, both linked to the same victim.
Upon visiting the victim's residence, deputies found evidence of a significant breaking and entering, with two additional vehicles reported stolen.
One of these vehicles was later located at a Sheridan Township residence, while the other was found in Albion.
Arrest warrants are being sought for seven individuals on charges including larceny of power and operating a chop shop.
The CCSO is collaborating with multiple agencies, including the Albion Department of Public Safety, Michigan State Police Southwest Commercial Auto Recovery Unit, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Springport Township Police Department, and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Police.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to this case to contact Detective Pignatro at 269-781-0880. |
