Officials warn: The Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money over the phone. |
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.
According to officials, scammers are calling residents and falsely claiming they have an outstanding arrest warrant—unless a payment is made. In some cases, the scammers even provide fake “Order of Arrest” documents to make the threat seem legitimate.
The Sheriff’s Office stresses that it will never demand payment or personal information over the phone or email, and no deputy will ask for money through prepaid credit cards, cryptocurrency ATMs, or gift cards. What You Should Do:
The CCSO says it is actively investigating these incidents and working to identify those responsible. |
