Dr Sophia Kolyvas feels being a physician is a calling and feels it is a blessing to be able to change lives every day. Dr Kolyvas looks forward to coming to work each day knowing that it will be entirely different from the day before. She credits her family for the love and support they have given her, always pushing her to pursue her passions. In her free time, Dr Kolyvas enjoys walking her dog and considers herself an avid puzzle maker. She always has the game show network on at home and will never pass up an opportunity to play a board game with friends. Being a physician is not just a career, but a calling.

Pulmonary and critical care medicine is a broad field that fit perfectly into Dr Smith’s interests. He enjoys the fast paced and high stakes style of critical care medicine, but also loves the challenge of providing detailed and nuanced care in pulmonary medicine. He tries to use his skills to help people feel better—these fields allow him to do just that. Dr Smith feels fortunate to work in fields that allow him to make a major difference in people’s lives over the course of just one day; a field where can see a person that is short of breath in the morning breathing easier by the afternoon. Dr Smith says that his parents have been the biggest influence in his life.

Dr Maddur Badarinath was most influenced to become a doctor by his mother. He chose critical care because he enjoyed the challenge of caring for patients with severe and multiple injuries. Further, he likes the reward of seeing how much progress patients make after being cared for by the critical care team. Dr Badarinath has special interests in diabetes, respiratory failure, shock and sepsis. In his free time, Dr Badarinath enjoys doing health walks and volunteering at the nursing clinic. He likes photography, travel, music and studying philosophy. Dr Badarinath also loves his two sons and wife, who has strongly supported him and raised their two boys to be good human beings.

While attending medical school and residency in Chicago, Nadine was exposed to many different levels of care at the medical center she worked at. Aside from learning surgical aspects of anatomy, her biggest interest came to be caring for the most critically ill patients. Nadine’s biggest influences were the pulmonary critical care attendings at Loyola University, especially Drs. Fahley and Tobin. Nadine loves coming to work because of the relationships she’s formed with patients and colleagues. She is continually learning the science behind how diseases affect various parts of the human body in her role at Bronson.

I want to approach every day as having the privilege to serve others.

I work to alleviate my patient's suffering through compassion and evidenced-based medicine. It starts with listening to my patient's concerns and communicating effectively with my patients and everyone involved in their care.
