Martina chose to become a nurse practitioner (NP) to improve the health of those around her in her community. At work, she is most excited to be able to make a difference for someone, even if it as simple as giving them a listening ear when they are having a hard time. The biggest influence in Martina’s life has been her parents for always encouraging her to put her best foot forward in her personal and professional life. The last few years have been busy for Martina as she raises her two young children who keep her running around. The small amount of free time she finds is typically spent outside working around the house, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

While attending medical school and residency in Chicago, Nadine was exposed to many different levels of care at the medical center she worked at. Aside from learning surgical aspects of anatomy, her biggest interest came to be caring for the most critically ill patients. Nadine’s biggest influences were the pulmonary critical care attendings at Loyola University, especially Drs. Fahley and Tobin. Nadine loves coming to work because of the relationships she’s formed with patients and colleagues. She is continually learning the science behind how diseases affect various parts of the human body in her role at Bronson.

Pulmonary and critical care medicine is a broad field that fit perfectly into Dr Smith’s interests. He enjoys the fast paced and high stakes style of critical care medicine, but also loves the challenge of providing detailed and nuanced care in pulmonary medicine. He tries to use his skills to help people feel better—these fields allow him to do just that. Dr Smith feels fortunate to work in fields that allow him to make a major difference in people’s lives over the course of just one day; a field where can see a person that is short of breath in the morning breathing easier by the afternoon. Dr Smith says that his parents have been the biggest influence in his life.

Jessica chose to pursue a career in healthcare because of her strong desire to help people. She found becoming a nurse practitioner to be a very rewarding career path, especially when collaborating with her patients to help them achieve better health. The biggest influence in her life is her husband and three daughters. They bring her joy and happiness, which she carries into work every day. She loves getting to know her patients outside of their medical condition and learning what makes them happy and joyful. Getting to know patients more deeply really helps the connection that she has in tackling their health problems and earning their trust.
