Battle Creek Fall Cleanup, Tire Recycling and Food-Scrap Composting: A Resident GuideBattle Creek residents have several city-supported ways to handle extra household material this fall, from curbside cleanup to a free scrap-tire collection and food-scrap composting.
Fall cleanup runs Sept. 14 through Sept. 18The City of Battle Creek’s annual fall cleanup is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14 through Friday, Sept. 18, 2026. Residents should bag material and place it neatly at the curb on their regular trash pickup day during that week. The opportunity is limited to people living within Battle Creek city limits, so residents outside the city should check with their own municipality or waste provider before setting materials out.
Free scrap-tire collection is Sept. 14Battle Creek will also hold a free scrap-tire recycling collection from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at 135 N. Washington Ave. The city says the event is for Battle Creek residents only. Tires must be off the rim, commercial and agricultural tires will not be accepted, and residents may bring up to 10 tires per person. Preparing tires before arrival can help keep the short collection window moving.
Food scraps have a year-round optionFood-scrap composting is another way residents can reduce what goes into the trash. Battle Creek’s free program is offered through a partnership with My Green Michigan. The city’s announcement points residents to the program for items such as food scraps and kitchen leftovers that can be composted rather than sent to landfill. Participation details and drop-off information can change, so use the official source before making a trip.
For full details, use the City of Battle Creek’s fall environmental-events notice, the fall cleanup calendar listing, and the scrap-tire calendar listing. For directions to the tire event, use Google Maps.
