Battle Creek Man Arrested for Allegedly Striking Repossession Agent with Vehicle

Incident on North Avenue Leads to Multiple Charges

A 28-year-old man from Battle Creek was taken into custody after allegedly striking a repossession agent with his vehicle on Thursday morning, as reported by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred just before 10:20 a.m. on North Avenue near Morgan Road in Pennfield Township.

According to deputies, the repossession agent was in the process of towing a vehicle when the suspect used another vehicle to pin the agent between two cars.

After releasing the agent, the suspect fled the scene.

First responders provided medical assistance to the agent, who sustained significant injuries.

The agent was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Shortly after the incident, authorities located the suspect's vehicle inside a parking garage on Grenville Street near Lathrop Avenue.

The vehicle exhibited damage consistent with the earlier event.

Following the execution of a search warrant at a nearby residence, deputies arrested the Battle Creek man.

He was booked into the Calhoun County Jail on charges including:

Felonious assault – great bodily harm

Leaving the scene of an accident

Driving on a revoked license

Violation of personal protection order

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this incident to contact Lt. Curtis Smith at 269-781-0880.

In a related incident earlier this year, a 44-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested after causing a crash by jumping onto a vehicle on North Avenue.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, the man was acting erratically and damaged store products before leaving the store and jumping onto a stopped vehicle.

The startled driver accelerated, leading to a collision with another vehicle.

The suspect then attempted to enter another vehicle and damaged it when unsuccessful.

Deputies arrived on the scene, and after a brief foot chase, the man was taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on felony charges.

These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about public safety and the importance of vigilance in the Battle Creek community.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to local authorities promptly.
