Incident at Pennfield Township Taco Bell Leads to Multi-County Chase and Arrest | 
On the evening of Thursday, October 30, 2025, at approximately 7:28 p.m., deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at the Taco Bell located at 1307 NE Capital Avenue in Pennfield Township. 
 Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 47-year-old male unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle. 
 Medical personnel from Lifecare Ambulance Service and the Pennfield Township Fire Department assessed the individual and determined he was medically stable. 
 During the investigation, deputies learned the man had an active felony warrant for his arrest. 
 As they attempted to take him into custody, the suspect resisted, leading to a physical struggle. 
 In the course of the altercation, the suspect managed to strike a deputy with his vehicle before fleeing the scene. 
 The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and subsequently released. 
 Shortly after the initial incident, deputies located the suspect's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. 
 The suspect refused to comply, resulting in a pursuit that extended into Eaton County. 
 Assistance was provided by the Michigan State Police and the Potterville Police Department. 
 The chase concluded when law enforcement successfully deployed tire deflation devices, bringing the vehicle to a halt. 
 The suspect was apprehended without further incident and transported to the Calhoun County Jail, where he faces multiple felony charges. 
 The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority, Michigan State Police, Lifecare Ambulance Service, Pennfield Fire Department, and Potterville Police Department for their assistance in this incident.
