Annual Toy and Food Distribution at Kellogg Arena Brings Joy and Nourishment to the Community |
On December 11, FireKeepers Hotel transformed Kellogg Arena into a festive hub, distributing more than 4,000 toys, 300 turkeys, and fresh food boxes to families in Battle Creek, Michigan.
This annual event, a cherished tradition in the community, saw toys generously donated by FireKeepers employees, guests, and local supporters. Fresh food boxes, provided by the South Michigan Food Bank, and turkeys purchased by FireKeepers, ensured that families had the essentials for a hearty holiday meal.
The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden many families face during the holiday season. Guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, the event emphasizes values such as respect, love, and humility.
Frank Tecumseh, CEO of FireKeepers Hotel, highlighted the importance of community support during this time of year. "This time of year reminds us that the greatest gifts come from supporting our neighbors and strengthening our community," Tecumseh said. "We know that many families are facing difficult challenges, and we are honored to help bring joy, comfort, and peace of mind into their holiday celebrations. We extend our deepest gratitude to the volunteers and donors who made this possible. From all of us at FireKeepers Hotel, we wish you a holiday season filled with hope, warmth, and togetherness."
The success of the event was made possible by the dedication of numerous volunteers and the generosity of donors. Their collective efforts ensured that thousands of families could experience the joy and warmth of the holiday season.
FireKeepers Hotel's commitment to the community extends beyond this event. In 2023, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, owners of FireKeepers, contributed over $6.2 million to the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board, supporting various local initiatives and services.
As the holiday season continues, the spirit of giving and community support remains strong in Battle Creek, thanks to the ongoing efforts of organizations like FireKeepers Hotel. |
