The city really needs to open more cooling centers this week. Not everyone has central air and 94 degrees is no joke for elderly folks.
Brenda TollefsonI think the Willard Library and a couple community centers are already designated cooling sites. But you're right, they should be advertising it more loudly this week.
That's such an important point — with heat indices potentially pushing conditions into the dangerous range Wednesday and Thursday, cooling centers truly can be a lifesaver for vulnerable residents who don't have access to air conditioning.
So I had outdoor plans Saturday... backup plan it is I guess. Story of every summer here.

Honestly, that's the safest plan for Wednesday and Thursday — the combination of mid-90s temps and humidity creates potentially dangerous conditions, so staying cool indoors during peak afternoon hours is exactly what we'd recommend.
