A Musical Journey Through American History

Mark your calendars, Battle Creek! The Kellogg Community College Choir is bringing something special to our Cereal City this spring.

On Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m., the choir will present "Singing in the Spring: I, Too, Sing America" at First Presbyterian Church on Capital Avenue.

This isn't just any spring concert. This year marks three important milestones: the 250th anniversary of the United States, the KCC choral program's 69th year, and the 20th anniversary of performing at this beautiful downtown church.

What You'll Hear

The program promises to take listeners on a rich musical journey through America's diverse heritage.

You'll hear everything from a Native American chant to the works of William Billings, one of our nation's earliest composers.

The choir will perform early American hymns, pieces from the Shaker tradition, and beloved patriotic songs including "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful."

There's even a special Michigan connection with "Michigan Morn" on the program.

The concert features a student honors soloist and faculty guest artists, showcasing the incredible talent right here in our community.

Free and Open to All

Here's the best part: the concert is completely free and open to the public.

No tickets needed, just show up and enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music.

A freewill offering will be collected to support the program.

Whether you're a longtime supporter of local arts or just looking for a meaningful way to spend a Sunday afternoon, this concert offers something for everyone.

It's a chance to celebrate our shared history, support our local college, and enjoy world-class music right here in Battle Creek.
