🥗 Restaurant Review Pause: Supporting Our Local Restaurants During the Lettuce Recall

If you've been looking for this week's restaurant review, you may have noticed something a little different.

This week, we're pressing pause.

Recent lettuce recalls have affected restaurants across our area, forcing many of our favorite local establishments to temporarily remove salads, sandwiches, wraps, and other menu items that normally feature fresh lettuce.

These changes weren't made because restaurants wanted to alter their menus, they made them because protecting their customers comes first.

Here at Cereal City Tasty Times, we believe restaurant reviews should showcase a business at its very best. Right now, many of our local restaurants are operating with a limited menu through no fault of their own.

Reviewing them during this unusual situation wouldn't give you the complete picture, and it wouldn't be fair to the hardworking owners, managers, chefs, and staff who continue serving our community every day.

Instead of reviewing restaurants this week, we've made it a point to visit several local establishments simply to show our support.

What we've seen has been encouraging.

Restaurant teams are adapting quickly, answering customer questions, modifying recipes where needed, and doing everything they can to continue serving great meals while putting food safety first.

If you've been wondering whether it's still a good time to eat out, the answer is yes.

Local restaurants are taking appropriate precautions and making thoughtful adjustments to keep guests safe. You may notice a few temporary menu changes, but you'll still find the friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food that make Battle Creek's dining scene so special.

And if you're not sure what to order, there's always one reliable favorite, pizza. Baked in ovens reaching temperatures around 500 degrees, it's a comforting choice that's as delicious as it is dependable.

Our local restaurants have supported this community for years. Now it's our turn to support them.

Stop in, order takeout, enjoy dinner with your family, or simply try somewhere new this week.

Every visit helps our locally owned restaurants continue doing what they do best.

We'll be back with our regular restaurant reviews as soon as menus return to normal, and we can't wait to once again highlight these businesses in all their full glory.

Until then, let's continue supporting local, dining local, and appreciating the incredible people who keep our community fed every day.

Why is Cereal City Tasty Times pausing its restaurant reviews?

We're temporarily pausing our restaurant reviews because many Battle Creek-area restaurants have adjusted their menus due to the recent lettuce recall. Rather than review restaurants while they're unable to offer their full menu, we're waiting until normal operations return so we can provide fair, complete, and accurate reviews.

Is it still safe to eat at local restaurants in Battle Creek?

Yes. Local restaurants throughout Battle Creek and Calhoun County are following food safety guidance and have removed affected ingredients where necessary. Many have temporarily modified their menus while continuing to serve safe, high-quality meals to their customers.

How can I support local restaurants during the lettuce recall?

The best way to help is to continue dining at your favorite local restaurants, order takeout, purchase gift cards, or recommend them to friends and family. Even with temporary menu changes, your support helps local businesses continue serving the community while they navigate the current food supply challenges.

I tried one of the wrap specials without lettuce last night and it was still really good. Local places are doing what they can!

Absolutely, we’re looking forward to the full return of fresh salads too; in the meantime, hats off to restaurants for keeping safety front and center.
