Springfield Home Struck by Gunfire in Sunday Shooting

Calhoun County Sheriff deputies responded to a Springfield home on West Michigan Avenue after multiple rounds were fired into the residence Sunday night. Three occupants were unharmed.

Springfield Home Struck by Gunfire in Sunday Shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mich.Calhoun County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 800 block of W. Michigan Avenue in Springfield following a report of shots fired shortly before 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, the department said in a Tuesday press release.

 

Deputies learned that an unknown individual had driven past a residence and fired multiple rounds into the home. Two men and one woman were inside the residence at the time of the shooting and were not injured. Police said they were able to move to a safe location immediately following the incident.

 

Deputies found evidence that multiple rounds had struck and penetrated the home and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

 

Deputies processed the scene and canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for potential suspects, but none were located. Several items of evidentiary value were collected and will be submitted to the Michigan State Police Laboratory for further analysis.

 

Deputies also searched for available surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
