Northwestern Academy of Visual & Performing Arts Mourns Loss, Offers Grief Support |
Battle Creek, MI — The Northwestern Academy of Visual & Performing Arts has closed its doors today, December 9, in response to the sudden passing of a student who experienced a medical emergency during a physical education class on Monday.
The student was promptly transported to a local hospital but, tragically, did not survive. The school has chosen to withhold further details out of respect for the family's privacy.
In a heartfelt statement, the academy expressed, "This time will allow our school community to grieve, receive support, and take care of one another."
To support students and staff during this difficult period, grief counselors are available at the school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a drop-in basis. Additionally, lunch is being provided between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
While Northwestern Academy remains closed for the day, other schools within the Battle Creek Public Schools district continue their regular schedules.
The academy emphasized the importance of community support, stating, "We know this loss has impacted many. Please take care of yourselves and one another, and do not hesitate to seek support if you need it."
As the community mourns, the focus remains on providing a supportive environment for all affected by this tragic event. |
