Free Children's Health and Wellness Fair Set for October 10 in Battle CreekFamilies across Calhoun County are invited to a free Children's Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, October 10, at Full Blast Family Recreation Center in Battle Creek.
The city calendar lists the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Full Blast, 35 W. Hamblin Ave. Organizers say families will be able to connect with local organizations, learn about health and wellness resources and find information about lead-poisoning-prevention programs and services in the community.
A practical family resource dayHealth fairs can make it easier for parents and caregivers to meet several local resource providers in one setting. The event description does not promise a particular screening, service or giveaway, so families should use the official calendar listing for the latest information about participants, activities and any age-specific offerings.
Lead-poisoning prevention is one of the stated topics. Families with a question about a child's health, a home exposure concern or a local service should use the fair as a starting point and follow up with an appropriate health professional or organization for advice specific to their situation.
Planning a visitThe published listing identifies admission as free. Bringing a list of questions can help families make the most of the afternoon, whether they are looking for general wellness information or seeking a connection to a particular local program. Because event details can change, confirm the time and location before leaving home.
See the official City of Battle Creek calendar listing for the latest event details.
Before you goOfficial event and program details are the best source for last-minute changes. Readers should confirm registration, accessibility needs, costs and timing directly with the organizer before leaving home. A local guide can explain the opportunity, but it cannot reserve a place, answer a personal health question or replace an organizer's current instructions. Checking the linked official page helps families and organizations make a plan based on the most current information.

really glad they mention lead, a lot of folks still don't realize it's a problem in some areas
Lisa W.You’re right, Lisa. I was surprised to learn my neighbor's house tested positive for lead last year. It's definitely still around, especially in some of the older parts of town.
Thank you for pointing that out, lead exposure remains a real concern in many communities, so we're glad the fair will offer information and resources to help families stay informed.
