Kellogg Community College Jazz Band presents 'When October Goes' on Nov. 2 |
The Kellogg Community College Jazz Band is set to enchant audiences with their fall concert, "When October Goes," at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, in the Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center auditorium, located at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.
This free event welcomes the public, with donations appreciated to support future music programs at KCC.
Under the direction of Eric Campbell, the band will perform a diverse selection of jazz classics and contemporary favorites that capture the essence of fall, from crisp swing numbers to lush ballads and funky showstoppers.
The program includes "When the Saints Go Marching In," arranged by Mike Lewis; "Autumn in New York," by Vernon Duke; "Love the Feelin'," by Chuck Mangione, arranged by Jeff Tyzik; "Autumn Mist," by Larry Neeck; "Slide Show," by Bob Curnow; "Maiden Voyage," by Herbie Hancock, arranged by Erik Morales; "Indiana," arranged by Dave Barduhn; "Autumn Leaves," by Johnny Mercer and Ted Heath; "When October Goes," by Barry Manilow and Wally Menard; "Zoot Suit Riot," by Steve Perry, arranged by Paul Murtha; and "1-800-Got-Funk," by Vince Gassi.
From the timeless elegance of "Autumn in New York" to the driving swing of "Zoot Suit Riot" and the reflective beauty of "When October Goes," Campbell said that the concert promises something for every jazz lover.
"This program really captures the mood of the seasonâthe warmth, the reflection, and the energy that comes as we move from fall into winter," Campbell said. "It's a fun and expressive mix of classic and modern jazz that our audience will love."
