McCamly Street Work Enters Final Phase in Battle Creek
Underground utility work is complete as milling and paving move toward a November 21st finish

McCamly Street work has moved into its final road phase in downtown Battle Creek after Consumers Energy completed the underground utility portion of the project.
Crews began milling and paving on November 4th, 2026, along the corridor between Jackson and State streets.
The remaining road work is expected to continue into next week, with progress depending on weather and crew availability.
Officials say the project remains on track to finish before November 21st, when the Battle Creek Christmas Parade is scheduled to move through downtown.
The work replaced underground electrical infrastructure that had served the downtown area since 1962, including old vaults and conduit.
No power outages were expected as part of the planned utility work.
Drivers and pedestrians should continue following posted signs, detours and work-zone instructions until paving and restoration are finished.
The city has said schedules can shift because of weather, site conditions and construction progress, so travelers should check the Battle Creek Alert Center before heading downtown.
The latest milestone means the most disruptive underground portion is complete, but crews and equipment will remain active while the street surface is restored.
Additional paving information is available in the city’s 2026 Local Rehabilitation Project update.
