Authorities Investigate Targeted Shooting on Freedom Lane |
On Wednesday afternoon, the Battle Creek Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on Freedom Lane. Officers arrived shortly after 4:30 p.m. on August 20, discovering three shell casings and a spent bullet in a nearby parking lot. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the rear window of a parked SUV was shattered by gunfire.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and assure the public that there is no ongoing threat. The department urges anyone with information to contact them at 269-781-0911 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
This event adds to a series of recent shootings in Battle Creek. In July 2025, bullets struck two apartments and a vehicle on Freedom Lane, though no injuries occurred. In August 2024, a 39-year-old man was injured in a shooting near Cliff and Mott streets, leading to an arrest in November 2024. Additionally, in September 2024, three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the parking lot of #1 Legends Club on Porter Street.
The Battle Creek Police Department continues to investigate these incidents and encourages community members to report any suspicious activity. Ensuring public safety remains a top priority for local law enforcement. |
