Amy Schense, FNP is a provider at 300 North Ave in Battle Creek.

Glenn chose his career in nursing because he wanted to be there for patients at the bedside. His biggest influence has been God and his mother - who has been a great example of faith, joy, hard work and unconditional love. Glenn has a special interest in critical care and providing quality excellence. Glenn enjoys participating in activities through church and in the community. He likes to golf, sing, play word games and spend time with his family. I love people and feel blessed and honored to be in a position to help with physical, mental and spiritual healing. I know God has me where he wants because I love coming to work every day, seeing my coworkers and knowing I can help the team achieve what sometimes seems impossible.

Jessica chose to pursue a career in healthcare because of her strong desire to help people. She found becoming a nurse practitioner to be a very rewarding career path, especially when collaborating with her patients to help them achieve better health. The biggest influence in her life is her husband and three daughters. They bring her joy and happiness, which she carries into work every day. She loves getting to know her patients outside of their medical condition and learning what makes them happy and joyful. Getting to know patients more deeply really helps the connection that she has in tackling their health problems and earning their trust.

Jordan is excited to work with diverse patients and feels each day is an opportunity to learn something new. She is passionate about improving the lives of her patients by providing the necessary guidance and tools to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Jordan finds it rewarding to provide education to her patients and develop a plan of care that aligns with patient goals. In her free time, Jordan enjoys being active through exercise and walking her dog. She also enjoys reading and traveling. I strive to provide individualized and compassionate care to my patients and to be an advocate for their best interest.

Katie was inspired to be a nurse practitioner by her mother, who is also a nurse practitioner at Bronson. Katie fell in love with cardiology in nursing school and it has been her main focus for the majority of her career. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, watching her boys play sports, boating, playing golf and volunteering as a sports coach. I enjoy spending time with my patients to make sure they understand their health conditions and empowering them to make an impact on their overall health. I'm here to support my patients while giving them the tools to reach their health goals.

Liza chose a career in nursing because of her desire to make a difference in someone's life during their most vulnerable times. She developed a passion for neurology while working as a regional subspecialty registered nurse for the past five years at Bronson Neuroscience Center in Kalamazoo. Liza says she look forward to working with my wonderful and supportive neurology team every day. She is consistently learning from them and cherishes having these invaluable collaborative relationships. Receiving continuous love and support from family and friends has been Liza’s greatest influence—this has helped shaped her into the woman she is today, and for this, she is very grateful.

Martina chose to become a nurse practitioner (NP) to improve the health of those around her in her community. At work, she is most excited to be able to make a difference for someone, even if it as simple as giving them a listening ear when they are having a hard time. The biggest influence in Martina’s life has been her parents for always encouraging her to put her best foot forward in her personal and professional life. The last few years have been busy for Martina as she raises her two young children who keep her running around. The small amount of free time she finds is typically spent outside working around the house, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Mary is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that considers all aspects of a patient's physical, spiritual and social well-being. With a specialty in palliative care, she focuses on pain and symptom management, helping patients and their families navigate complex medical journeys with comfort and dignity. Early in her career, Mary worked in a bone marrow transplant unit. This allowed her to see firsthand the importance of building strong relationships with patients and their loved ones. This experience shaped her approach to medicine, emphasizing the power of connection and holistic support.

Sheena was raised from infancy by her maternal grandmother after the passing of her mother. Being raised solely by her divorced grandmother instilled in her the values of family, persistence, and striving to be your best. Sheena became a nurse to help those in need. As her nursing career continued, she decided she wanted to further her education and become a nurse practitioner. She chose a focus of adult-gerontology with a special interest in wound care. Sheena considers chronic wound care to be a challenging area of medicine, one that will allow her to expand her skills while providing personalized care for her patients. She considers her current position in the wound center to be her dream job.

Sue Smith has always had a passion for people. She was six years old when she decided she would become a nurse someday. After spending twelve years as a registered nurse, Sue went back to school to pursue her degree and become a nurse practitioner. She felt this would allow her to form deeper, more meaningful connections with her patients. Now she loves coming to work every day, where she has the opportunity to touch someone’s life – whether that be a patient, their loved ones or her coworkers. Sue has a special interest in breast cancer. She also actively volunteers at Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care sponsored activities, such as the annual Survivors’ Celebration.

Theresa “Teri” wanted to be a nurse for most of her life. She spent 15 years as a registered nurse and while it was very rewarding, she felt like she wanted to do more. She chose to become a nurse practitioner to have a bigger impact on patients and their families. She loves the challenge of working with patients to set reasonable goals that work for them and their health needs. These goals usually go hand in hand with good education to ensure the patient understands what their condition is and why these goals are important. Healthcare can be incredibly intimidating and if Teri is able to help them feel less scared or frustrated, she feels that she has achieved her goal.

Tina pursued a career in healthcare so she could people in her community. She finds her job exciting because she has endless opportunities to learn from others. Tina has a special interest in dietetics, emergency care and occupational health. In her free time, she likes to read and sing. I always strive to provide the best care and service to all my patients, all the time.
