Cyndy’s interest in genetic counseling is a personal one. It began when her grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, and since then, she has been driven to help others understand their health risks and options. Initially, she had an interest in cancer research, however, soon found that her passion was in education, counseling and patient advocacy. Her decision to work in oncology genetic counseling was solidified while working in a genetics laboratory the year before BRCA1, the first breast cancer gene, was discovered. Cyndy’s special interests are in breast and prostate cancer genetics. I am passionate about preventative care and assisting in medical decisions tailored to the individual needs and situation of each patient.

Dr Maddur Badarinath was most influenced to become a doctor by his mother. He chose critical care because he enjoyed the challenge of caring for patients with severe and multiple injuries. Further, he likes the reward of seeing how much progress patients make after being cared for by the critical care team. Dr Badarinath has special interests in diabetes, respiratory failure, shock and sepsis. In his free time, Dr Badarinath enjoys doing health walks and volunteering at the nursing clinic. He likes photography, travel, music and studying philosophy. Dr Badarinath also loves his two sons and wife, who has strongly supported him and raised their two boys to be good human beings.

Aside from learning surgical aspects of anatomy, her biggest interest came to be caring for the most critically ill patients. Nadine’s biggest influences were the pulmonary critical care attendings at Loyola University, especially Drs. Fahley and Tobin. Nadine loves coming to work because of the relationships she’s formed with patients and colleagues. She is continually learning the science behind how diseases affect various parts of the human body in her role at Bronson.

Dr Sophia Kolyvas feels being a physician is a calling and feels it is a blessing to be able to change lives every day. Dr Kolyvas looks forward to coming to work each day knowing that it will be entirely different from the day before. She credits her family for the love and support they have given her, always pushing her to pursue her passions. In her free time, Dr Kolyvas enjoys walking her dog and considers herself an avid puzzle maker.
